Special Needs Ministry

It is our desire to support and accept all individuals willingly and enthusiastically. At Countryside, we are striving to include individuals living with a disability and their families in all aspects of our Worship services. We are now offering the following programs for parents/caregivers of children and adults living with a disability as well as the child/adult themselves.

rEcess & Sibshops

rEcess is engaging kids with special needs.

rEcess is a monthly respite program provided for children with special-needs. We long to serve families within our own community. Volunteers provide one-to-one attention for children with special needs. Siblings are also invited to participate in the "sibling track" which provides them with their own exciting activities.

The program allows parents a night off so they can do whatever they want or need. Our volunteers strive to get to know the families and look forward to these times.

rEcess provides a starting point for building communities of support around these families, allows volunteers an opportunity to learn and love and, honestly, it's just a lot of fun.

rEcess is staffed by a licensed medical professional as well as trained volunteers.

If you would like to sign up your child for rEcess please contact: [email protected].  Prior consent must be given by the Director and Medical Professional before any child can attend.

Sibling Track

Sibshops are pedal-to-the-metal celebrations of the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of kids with special needs.

Sibshops acknowledge that being the brother or sister of a person with special needs is for some a good thing, others a not-so-good thing, and for many, somewhere in-between. They reflect a belief that brothers and sisters have much to offer one another — if they are given a chance. Sibshops are a spirited mix of new games (designed to be unique, off-beat, and appealing to a wide ability range), new friends, and discussion activities.

Sibshops at Countryside is staffed by a certified facilitator as well as trained volunteers.

rEcess and Sibshops are initiatives of www.99balloons.org and www.siblingsupport.com

A 1-to-1 buddy program consisting of volunteers who shadow adults and children in need of an extra hand for their age-appropriate activities. The activities include Kids Church, Sunday School,  Awana and all adult programs.  We offer a fully-staffed sensory room during both our Sunday School and Worship Services.

SPURS (Students Pursuing their Unique Relationship with the Savior)

SPURS, a small group ministry serving young adults and older, is a place where people with disabilities, their families, and friends, have the opportunity to develop greater confidence in their relationship with Jesus Christ, build nurturing relationships with each other, and serve our community. The group meets every Sunday morning at 9:00 AM and on Tuesday evenings from 5:45 – 8:00 PM.
