rEcess is engaging kids with special needs.
rEcess is a monthly respite program provided for children with special-needs. We long to serve families within our own community. Volunteers provide one-to-one attention for children with special needs. Siblings are also invited to participate in the "sibling track" which provides them with their own exciting activities.
The program allows parents a night off so they can do whatever they want or need. Our volunteers strive to get to know the families and look forward to these times.
rEcess provides a starting point for building communities of support around these families, allows volunteers an opportunity to learn and love and, honestly, it's just a lot of fun.
rEcess is staffed by a licensed medical professional as well as trained volunteers.
If you would like to sign up your child for rEcess please contact: [email protected]. Prior consent must be given by the Director and Medical Professional before any child can attend.
Sibling Track
Sibshops are pedal-to-the-metal celebrations of the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of kids with special needs.
Sibshops acknowledge that being the brother or sister of a person with special needs is for some a good thing, others a not-so-good thing, and for many, somewhere in-between. They reflect a belief that brothers and sisters have much to offer one another — if they are given a chance. Sibshops are a spirited mix of new games (designed to be unique, off-beat, and appealing to a wide ability range), new friends, and discussion activities.
Sibshops at Countryside is staffed by a certified facilitator as well as trained volunteers.
